The article presents the concept of sociocultural competence and the technologies of its development in English lessons. Sociocultural competence is understood as the ability to speak English in the same way as a foreigner does. Sociocultural competence pays great attention to the national and cultural background of the interlocutor. The proposed technology is designed for primary school students. The basis of the proposed technology is the gamification component. The board game was chosen because of its visibility and ease of use. It was determined that the board game should have simple rules, an interesting story about different countries for elementary school students, should be designed for 12-18 players and involve the use of Internet resources. The designed game «Hello, World!» meets the above requirements and has proven its effectiveness.

Pages:
